Squash marathon raises money for Children in Need
MFH's Manchester Business Development engineer, Garry Hope, played his part in raising approximately £2,500 for this year's Children In Need Appeal.
As part of Rothwell squash club, Garry along with nine others, played 26 hours of continuous squash to raise money for the appeal. Looking the part, decked out in MFH Group t-shirts sponsored by the company, the enthusiastic ten began playing at 4pm on November 17 right through until 6pm the following day!
Lots of people turned out to support the lads, including manicurists and face painters whose efforts also raised money for charity.
"The most difficult time was from 2am - 7am," explained Garry. "It wasn't the staying awake part that was the problem, it was through the lack of alcohol!"
At the end of the 26-hour marathon session there was a challenge match between Martin Humphrey and his father David. And, surprisingly, it was the 61-year-old David who came out on top.
"The target for the event was to raise £2,000, but we've managed to raise approximately £2,500 which is all thanks to our sponsors," confirmed a delighted Garry.
Well done to everyone who played their part. |
